Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Great Oaks Small School -The Small School with a Big Heart.

Hello, and a heartfelt welcome to you and your family from me, Julie Kelly.

At Great Oaks, we are incredibly proud that Ofsted recognized our commitment to Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes with an 'Outstanding' rating in 2025.

Your child's well-being and individuality are paramount to us. You can be assured that our dedicated and long-standing team of full-time therapists and fully qualified subject teachers – covering every core curriculum area – will consistently provide the highest levels of kindness, consideration, and respect.

We are committed to nurturing your child's educational journey from their initial steps through to GCSEs and 'A' Levels, as appropriate. More importantly, we prioritise student wellbeing by ensuring a safe and secure environment, in turn fostering a positive school experience.

We understand that choosing an Independent school is a critical decision in a young person’s life; many of our students come from mainstream settings where they have faced enormous challenges. We offer a small, therapeutic environment based over two unique and beautiful locations.

Imagine your child learning in a 300-year-old farmhouse, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Minster Marshes! At Great Oaks, our Years 7-11 students (ages 11-16) enjoy this unique setting, where the garden is a haven for wildlife like hawks, lizards, and barn owls, and serves as an inspiring playground and outdoor classroom with vegetable plots and a Forest School.

Just a short drive away at Discovery Park, our sixth formers (Years 12-14, ages 16-19) benefit from a state-of-the-art educational wing. Despite our two distinct locations, we are a closely twinned school, with all students coming together for performances, prize-givings, and our many extra-curricular events.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with Great Oaks. We'd be delighted to welcome you and your child for a visit at your convenience. We pride ourselves on our quick response and look forward to answering all your questions, showing you around our school, and offering you a truly warm farmhouse welcome!

Yours Sincerely,

Julie Kelly
